The Civil Follies

Start the music, click the curtain to raise it, then type the u, h, j, k, l, and m keys.

Note: If you restart the music, click the dancer once to wake him up, elsewise he'll just stand there with a dignified expression (and we can't have that, can we?). I've separated out the music because MIDI files are substantially smaller than embedded audio, and the pages download much faster.

The pictures used for this show are taken from the archives of Matthew B. Brady. Matthew Brady was a well known photographer during the American Civil War. He sent his photographers to the sites of actual battles. For many, Brady's photographs were the first glimpses they had ever seen of the horrors of war. He brought the conflict home in a way that had never been possible before, and it forever changed the way people think of war.
